1979 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL

Niko is an avid classic car owner, but he landed on the 450 as his daily. His friends dad was the owner when Niko first saw the car and that is when he fell in love. Eventually the father gifted it to his friend and they were able to rip it around during highschool constantly having adventures in it. His friend eventually moved over seas and Niko was able to aquire his dream car.

Since then Niko has been using this as his daily, date night, and loaner car. He fully trust it to take care of who ever is in the need of some of wheels. He has moved in the car a total of 4 times now. We aren’t just talking about across the neighborhood or down the street. He moved from AZ to Vegas then back to AZ then from AZ to Florida and then again back to AZ. All trips had a total of absoulutely zero breakdowns. To me that sounds like an absolute feat for a vintage luxury car.

That just goes to show the build quality of vintage luxury. They weren’t worried about how many touch screens, sensors or gimmicks that make cars “luxury” nowadays. No, they were focused on the build quailty, the feeling and a true sense or presents that the vehcicle brought to the roadway. They were focused on the unique driving experience and how it made the drivers feel.

Most vehicles today have no personality and don’t feel as the brand is supposed to fell like. Through the hunt of pleasing everyone, they have lost the soul of what made the brand, the reason people fell in love with the brand. Have you ever noticed that most car enthusist drive vintage cars? What is the reason for the age? The nogstalga, cost savings or lack of air bags? I beileve it is for the same reason that I just listed, the soul. It is the chase for the feeling back in the road, the satstisfiying clanks and sound of the tires onthe road. Its the respect that has to be mutrul through the car and driver. There are no safety features. The driver must be attentive every second of drive. The car will not save you. The exciting sinking feeling that occurs when you push it right to that line. It’s the uncontrolable smile and nervous laughter while you hit the apex’s, the screaming of the rubber using every inch of friction available.

In an era that is full of uninspired cars it’s a feeling that rarely comes with a modern car. That is why we go back into a time that most of us didn’t get to experience, so we go back. We go back to the feeling that our parents and grand parents got to experience first hand.
